New Function Centre, Chapel, Lotus Pavilion & Admin Building
CPS was appointed as Project Manager for the improvements at Macquarie Park Cemetery. The Northern Suburbs Cemeteries Trust has defined the requirements to ensure they offer the public the facilities they desire.
The works include a new function centre, chapel, and a new open pavilion for those desiring a less enclosed funeral service location. Refurbishment of the administration building, café, florist and additional car parking is also included in the scope of works.
CPS is managing the consultant team to fully document and tender the construction works. The project management is complex as it involves the management of multiple adjoining live areas where visitors are often in a highly emotional state.
The new function centre will provide a high quality facility for after funeral gatherings for all denominations. This building will have 6 separate function rooms, which will incorporate operable walls to allow for diverse function capacity. The increased patronage on the site has also required the extension of the car parks.
The Lotus Pavilion has been specifically championed by the Sikh, Hindu and Buddhist communities which was officially opened in August 2017. Detailed planning was undertaken to ensure that the facility complied with multi-faith requirements.
The Administration Building is to undergo a complete refurbishment and extension to cater for current staffing levels and to facilitate a better and more efficient work flow.
