Integrated Cancer Care Centres

CPS was retained for project management services to deliver the integrated cancer care centre, which would host radiotherapy, breast screening clinics and a chemotherapy unit. The co-location of these units was to maximise operational efficiencies derived through use of shared services and features.

The head contract was the GC21 Managing Form of contract utilising a Guaranteed Contract Sum approach.

The project had unique challenges in terms of complex medical equipment installations including linear accelerators and CT scanners. These high energy machines are housed in radiation shielded rooms which the shielding achieved through the use of concrete walls and roofs up to 1.8m thick and lead shielding.

CPS also provided a Project Director role for the management of the design team and user group interface. The design team included specialist consultants for shielding, bushfire design advice and a flora and fauna consultant to manage the impact of the buildings in sensitive and bush-fire prone areas.
