Darling Harbour Interface
In April 2017 CPS was awarded the Darling Harbour Interface project at Darling Quarter. This involved the replacement of paving, street scape and landscaping from tender award for our client, Place Management, Property NSW (formerly known as Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority).
The Interface project which will modernise an extensive area of pedestrian paving throughout Darling Quarter, Liverpool Street and Harbour Street (surrounding the Chinese Gardens) to be consistent with streetscape paving through the surrounding area.
The scope includes the removal of the existing pavers and sub structure, installation of a new sub base, concrete and laying of 4500m2 of 30mm to 80mm stone pavers to comply with the City of Sydney Council requirements within the Darling Harbour precinct.
The street furniture and associated landscaping includes extensive planting of 9500 plants. These works required detailed coordination and staging between commercial tenants of Darling Quarter, Events NSW managing events within Tumbalong Park and the general public. This extensive planning allowed safe and easy access to all areas, included providing emergency egress from all facilities at all times.
The project required investigation and coordination with all the associated bodies that provide the utilities (gas, water, storm water, communications, power and sewage) that service the facilities within the Darling Harbour precinct. Some of these services were identified but required detailed methodology and supervision so not to damage unsurveyed or unidentified services. The project included some 80 services pits that had to be removed and replaced.
The final stages of this upgrade programme will be completed Q1 2018.
