CPS was engaged to undertake the project management of the access systems upgrade at 1 Bligh St in the Sydney CBD. The extensive use of glazing throughout this futurist, 30 storey, A-grade commercial building has presented some challenges for ongoing maintenance and operation of the building, including cleaning, since the building works were completed in 2011.

Dexus appointed Total Access to undertake the works. The aim of these works is to allow for safer and more efficient access for those working at heights.

CPS have been engaged to provide project support framework and safety assurance. This includes consultation with building management regarding staging, review of designs from Enstruct the Structural Engineer, chairing regular meetings, undertaking site inspections, site investigations for structural shop drawing modifications, review of works programming, review of construction methodology, risk and SWMS reviews, contract administration and management of completion activities.

The works are located in restricted and challenging areas both internally and externally within the roof, fire stairs, mezzanine levels, plant rooms and foyer. The works comprised of the removal of rigid steel lifelines, install of new anchor points, install of new diversion anchors and fixing eyes, install of guardrails, install of balustrades, install of fixed steps, install of moveable ladders, new signage, new Self Retracting Lifelines (SRL’s), attachment of new support tracks and unirails to base building structural steel members and concrete precast panels, columns, walls and slabs.
