CPS were appointed project and construction manager for the $300M design development, procurement, construction and statutory compliance upgrade of the 27 storey CBD building housing the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and the NSW Supreme Court and associated administrative units over 7 years.
It is CPS’ responsibility to manage and oversee the project design and development; project budget and financial management and stakeholder reporting; Statutory approvals; construction supervision, plant installation and commissioning; services relocations; maintaining building operational issues; maintaining security protocols; providing high level financial and detailed programme project reporting; and managing expectations of staff, judges, the legal fraternity and the general public throughout the construction process.
Challenges CPS are faced with include maintaining floor delivery programmes; managing budgets and multiple stakeholder funding issues; managing design consistency and requests for change; managing major refurbishment works in the environment of a full operational law courts building with associated noise and disruption issues; and managing contractor and Industrial Relation matters.
With the project still currently underway, CPS are successfully delivering full floor refurbishments including Courts, judges chambers and administration areas for the High Court, Federal Court and the NSW Supreme Court within budgets and on time. CPS are completing all necessary statutory building upgrades and are successfully maintaining all operational aspects of the building during the programme of works.
